CarolAnn Garratt, who lives at Leeward Air Ranch, is no stranger to adventure. After losing her mother in 2002 to ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, she flew her single-engine airplane around the world in 2003 to raise funds and awareness to combat the incurable illness.
Time was not an issue on that trip, but Garratt's latest adventure will require plenty of speed. She and a co-pilot, Carol Foy of Texas, are attempting to break a world speed record, circumnavigating the globe in seven days in a single-engine plane...
