Why Fly-in's Might Be Just the Ticket

Some pilots and their partners have flown in as groups, others singly. They seek what they share when they “meet under the tree” at the Spruce Creek fly-in community in Daytona. They form their “gaggle” on a weekend morning or in animated conversation about planes, called “hanger flying.” They do it in the open expanse of a hanger over a half-finished experimental plane at the Leeward Air Ranch in Ocala. Maybe they are simply under the stars among the oak and pines at one of the homes at Cedars Airfield, outside of Cedar Key. Still, they share their passions....
