Hilda A. Tellechea, 73
Hilda A Tellechea passed away May 12, 2007 in Ocala, FL at the age of 73. Hilda was a first generation Cuban, born in Santiago, Cuba on June 1st, 1933. She married her husband then, Cubana de Aviacion Pilot Mario Tellechea on December 31, 1951 and, soon after learned to fly and soloed a Piper J3. Hilda, her two children, and mother, Mary Vilanova, emigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1960 while her husband went to Bay of Pigs training in Nicaragua. The family became American Citizens at the first opportunity in 1965 when names were Americanized from Hilda Maria Alvarez Torres de Tellechea to Hilda Alvarez Tellechea, and Mario became Charles. Hilda lived in Miami, Florida until 1984 when she retired from Miami Dade County Criminal Justice System as a Systems Analyst and moved to Ocala, FL. She was a resident of Leeward Air Ranch from 1986 until her passing from congestive heart failure. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles M. Tellechea, Sr. of Leeward Air Ranch, Ocala, FL; son Charles M. Tellechea, Jr., and daughter-in-law Joan Tellechea of Leesburg, VA; and by daughter, Cira Tellechea Augerson, son-in-law, Sean D. Augerson and grandchildren, Sean Connor Augerson and Caitlin Tellechea Augerson of Damascus, Maryland. Hilda was a kind and loving (and fun loving) person who will be missed by her many friends and relatives.
On May 31, 2007, about 50 ladies from LAR met at Bella Luna to celebrate Hilda’s June lst birthday. These are some of their thoughts. Some comments were unsigned.
